Life-Safety Scope Generator

The systems a building must carry, the ones it's missing, what closing the gap costs, and a memo you can put in front of a lender, insurer or contractor.

Systems already in place

Set the occupancy, size and systems on the left. The generator returns the required systems with code citations, the gap list with capex bands, and a printable scope memo.

Planning scope This is a planning scope, not a code compliance opinion. Code interpretation is jurisdictional and enforced by the authority having jurisdiction — a municipal official, not this site. Confirm every requirement against the adopted code edition with a qualified professional before you design, budget or build.

Is the scope generator's output a code compliance opinion?

No. It is a planning scope assembled from the published model code. The authority having jurisdiction — a municipal official — decides what binds your building, and a qualified professional must confirm the scope before you design, budget or build.

Which code does the generator read?

The National Building Code of Canada 2020 requirement framework, mapped to the adopted provincial edition for the city you select. Provincial amendments can change triggers; the memo names the edition you must confirm against.

Where do the capex bands come from?

Modelled national baselines per system, scaled by a regional labour index. They are planning bands, not quotes — licensed contractors price real work after a site review.

Do I need an account to use it?

No. The scope, the memo and the deal link all live in the URL. Nothing is stored against you, and the memo prints straight from the page.
